Jim’s first feature film A HUNDRED STREETS starring Idris Elba and Gemma Arteton debuted at the LA Film Festival in 2016 before a UK premiere at the BFI. His work in television has seen him direct some of the top actors of his generation. More recently Jim directed and exec produced two series of TRYING for Apple, the entire fourth season of Channel 4’s hugely successful CATASTROPHE, prior to this Jim kicked off the second series of Netflix’s Marvel drama THE PUNISHER in the US. Other television directing credits include UNDERCOVER, EMMA, HOUSE OF SADDAM, IN THE FLESH and QUIRKE starring Gabriel Byrne for the BBC; ALL IN THE GAME starring Idris Elba and Ray Winstone for Channel 4; OF TWO MINDS starring Kristin Davis for Sony Pictures Television; plus all three feature-length films in the Charlie Brooker-scripted A TOUCH OF CLOTH series starring John Hannah for Sky. EMMA, which featured Romola Garai, Jonny Lee Miller, Michael Gambon and which Jim directed for the BBC, was nominated for a Golden Globe and four Emmy Awards, while HOUSE OF SADDAM, a HBO/BBC co-production was nominated for four Emmy Awards, a BAFTA and won the 2009 Grierson Award for Best Drama Documentary. Jim is also a prolific writer across media. He continues to develop original Television and Feature film ideas and has many writer credits on returnable dramas. Other work as a writer includes the screenplays VINNY AND JEFF and PADDY’S WEEKEND, both currently in development; EVEN THE OLIVES ARE BLEEDING (BBC Radio 4); THE BOY WHO BECAME PRIME MINISTER (BBC Radio 3); and the smash-hit comedy THE BUDDHIST OF CASTLEKNOCK for Fishamble Theatre Company in Dublin. Other plays include MY BONNIE LIES, READY OR NOT and PILGRIMS IN THE PARK. Jim has also co-written the musical WHIRLWIND which is to be co-produced by The Artists Partnership development department and Josh Andrews of JASS Productions. After a period of development, Jim and Composers James T. Reid and Nick Lloyd Webber workshopped the show for the first time in February 2014 with Tamara Harvey directing.
